stocks higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in capital goods, metal and
auto sectors led stocks higher. At the close on the NSE Nifty 50 added 1.45%,
while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.50%.
The best performers of the session
in Nifty 50 that Vedanta Ltd (NS: V and), which rose 7.42% or 5.80 points to
trade at 83.95 at the close. Meanwhile, TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS: TISC) added
7.29% or 19.50 points to end at 287.05 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (NS:
BHEL) was up 6.39% or 6.20 points to 103 , 30 at the end of trading.
The worst performer of the session
that Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (NS: ZEE), which fell 1.20% or 4.80
points to trade at 394.45 at the close. UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS: ULTC)
decreased 0.97% or 28.75 points to end at 2944.25 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (NS:
ICBK) fell 0.91% or 2.00 points to 218.00.
Top performer of the BSE Sensex 30
that Vedanta Ltd (BO: V and) which rose 7.31% to 83.70, TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:
TISC) which rose 7.17% to settle at 286.30 and Tata Motors Ltd. ( BO: Tamo)
which rose 6.10% to close at 336.35.
The worst performer was ICICI Bank
Ltd (BO: ICBK) which fell 1.04% to 217.90 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO: ITC) lost
0.75% to settle at 317.50 and NTPC Limited (BO : NTPC) which fell 0.24% to
126.40 at the close.
Naik stocks outnumbered declining
ones on the National Stock Exchange of India with 994-410 and 62 ended
unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 574 up and 236 refused, while 28 ended
unchanged.
India VIX, which measures the
implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, fell 5.00% to 18.0400.
Gold for April delivery rose 0.13%
or $ 1.60 to $ 1,243.40 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude
oil for April delivery rose 0.17%, or 0.06 to hit $ 34.72 per barrel, while
Brent oil contract in May fell 0.16%, or 0.06 to trade at $ 36.87 per barrel.
USD / INR rose 0.15% to 67.350,
while the EUR / INR rose 0.03% to 73.2670. The US Dollar Index up 0.01% at
98.21.
